This year, during the X Brazilian Congress of Mammalogy, carried out in Águas de Lindóia, São Paulo State, the Brazilian Society of Mammalogy released a Special Volume of the Bulletin entitled: “Women in Brazilian Mammalogy”. This volume aimed to highlight the high-quality work and contributions led by women in all areas of the Brazilian Mammalogy and contains essays, articles, and notes. It was an honor to be part of the editors team and also to contribute with the Manuscript entitled: “Addressing gender disparity in speaking opportunities at the Brazilian Congress of Mammalogy” in collaboration with Bárbara Costa, Ana Lazar, and Gabriela Marin. Also, one of the essays led by Alexandra Bezerra and Ana Lazar highlights the contributions of early women mammalogists from the early 20th century until the beginnings of the 21st century: “Women in Brazilian mammalogy: the pioneers and the prominent members of the Brazilian Society of Mammalogy”. This essay in particular, and other articles in the Bulletin was inspired on Volume 77, number 3 of the Journal of Mammalogy published in August 1996, which contains a special feature on Women in the North America Mammalogy.
